Charity Quilts

Ty Pennington charity quilts

On August 22nd, 2011 two homes were burned down in north Austin. Members of the Austin Modern Quilt Guild decided to make blocks and put together two quilts as gifts for the families that lost their homes.

We are very grateful to Westminster Fabrics, who donated several yards of Ty Pennington's fabric line, Impressions, in a chartreuse and gray colorway.

When the fabric arrived, guild members got busy making nine patch variation blocks to contribute to this project. All of the blocks were pieced together with white sashing and the binding on each of the quilts is scrappy, using what remained of the donation from Westminster.

A local fabric shop, Walker Hall Design, graciously donated some Impressions home decor fabric for the borders and backing for the quilts. The quilts were completed and delivered in November 2011.

Both families were very grateful to receive these gifts.
