2014-2015 Executive Officer Candidates

The Austin MQG will be electing new Executive Officers on June 11, 2014! Below is the list of candidates and little information about themselves.

Angela Milliman
Hi! My name is Angela Milliman and I would love to be the President for the Austin Modern Quilt Guild. I began attending the ATXMQG meetings in Fall 2012 and found fabric-addicts willing to share their huge amounts of creativity and knowledge with the community. It is amazing to see how much the guild has grown in such a short amount of time. I look forward to continuing this positive growth in coordination with the rest of the board and guild members by continuing with programs like demos, lectures and community service plus adding in plenty of new ideas. I would also love for our Guild to provide a huge Texas-size welcome to the attendees at QuiltCon 2015!

Heather Grant
I would love to be able to serve the MQG at a local level. I have professional experience in strategic planning, marketing, communications and event planning and feel I can bring much of my experience to the table. I hope to redesign the website, improve our member newsletter and work with the Austin MQG board in bringing the best programming to our guild. Our current board has done such an amazing job establishing a strong foundation and bringing the Austin MQG to a great level, I hope that together we can bring it up to level 11! Working together I think we can make this guild even better. I also fully support bringing back the Austin MQG Happy Hour so that we all can get to know even more members!

Beth Chinderle
I am interested in being more involved in the AMQG, so I am running for Vice President of Events. My background in education has given me opportunities to facilitate, plan and organize lots of different things. If elected, I hope to bring my teaching experience and passion for modern quilting to the position by connecting with members and hearing your ideas so we can plan a variety of events to offer throughout the year!

Kim Place
My name is Kim Place and I've been so happy to be a part of our modern quilting community for the past two and half years. I'm running for VP of programming because I love our meetings. I'd love to continue to broaden our knowledge of what modern quilting is and share some awesome techniques to build confidence in every quilter to become more amazing than they already are. The foundations of our little guild have been set to make this year an amazing one and I'd love to be a part of it. Thanks for your consideration.

Christi Carew
Hi! I'm Christi Carew and I'm running for Secretary. I'm running to be more involved with the AMQG. I love the group. We've come a long way and I want to be part of helping it continue to grow. I love sharing what we do, so I think I'd be good at secretary. I'm also an experienced secretary (hello, PTA). Thanks!

Jill Ivie
I'm running for my second term as Treasurer for the Austin Modern Quilt Guild because I love Austin, Modern Quilting and Excel!

We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting on June 11, 2014, 7pm at Sew Much More (3010 W Anderson Ln, Austin, TX 78757).
